HP Office Jet 5258 is not printing whole document.  It prints letterhead but not body of content.  Have rebooted, unplugged and nothing seems to work.  Using Safari.

Hi @SWDET

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I am sorry for the difficulty you are facing with your HP OfficeJet 5258 not printing the full document. I understand how frustrating it must be to see the letterhead print correctly but the body of the content missing, especially after you’ve already rebooted and unplugged the printer. I appreciate the effort you’ve put in so far.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Print Settings in Safari

  • When printing from Safari, click “File” > “Print.”
  • In the print dialog, ensure “Backgrounds” and “Print headers and footers” are enabled if needed.
  • Verify that the correct paper size and layout are selected.

Step 2: Save as PDF First

  • Instead of printing directly from Safari, select “File” > “Export as PDF.”
  • Open the PDF in Preview and print from there.
  • This helps confirm whether the issue is Safari‑specific or printer‑related.

Step 3: Update Printer Drivers and Firmware

Step 4: Use HP App for Printing

  • Install the HP App from the Mac App Store.
  • Add your HP OfficeJet 5258 to the app.
  • Try printing the same document through the app to see if the body content appears.

Step 5: Test with Another Application

  • Open the same document in Word, Pages, or Preview.
  • Print from there to confirm if the issue is isolated to Safari.

Step 6: Run a Printer Self‑Test

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Reports > Print Quality Report.
  • If the test page prints correctly, the issue is likely software‑related rather than hardware.

These steps should help determine whether the missing body content is due to Safari’s print handling or a driver/firmware mismatch.
