Folks, I’ve literally just purchased an HP DESKJET 2800 and already I think I’ve made a mistake!

I want to adjust the print size to 6”x4” but it won’t let me - it’s only printing in A4

please advise

Economy printers do limit features -

Whether the printer can do what you want depends on the printer, the Operating System, and the apps / software.

The printer can accommodate supported paper sizes and types, including 4x6 inch photo paper.

Before configuring the print job,

Check / Adjust the Paper Size / Type using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) - Tray and Paper

Next,

Depending on the Operating System / version and the app / software,

Verify the paper type / size in the job setup or let the Tray and Paper settings help pre-select what is needed.

----------------------------------------------------------------

DeskJet printers use a "small, medium, large" setting method for adjusting supported paper sizes / types.

Original EWS

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper (Management)

Select / Adjust settings for Paper Size / Type

Model and EWS version Dependent:  Advanced section

Click Apply to save changes

Example - EWS - Tray and Paper (DeskJet / top loader printers)

DeskJet printers do not support Borderless AND require a larger margin along the bottom edge of the paper.  These limitations often impact what / how the content is printed on paper.

Printing - Important -

DeskJet printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge (1/2 inch).

Borderless PrintingNo
Print Margin Bottom (A4)12.7 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)3 mm

There is no software, firmware, or alignment that changes the larger margin requirement.

The solution to "chopped off" is to keep all data inside of 1/2 inch / 12.7mm on the bottom edge.

This limitation includes all text, images, page numbers, footer information, cells, tables, lines, other notations, and all file types, too.

Create your original document with 12.7mm ( 1/2 inch ) margins.
