Hi

Ive been trying to help a friend of mine print from either of her two android tablets to her new HP DeskJet 2810e printer, but without success so far.

The error message that we see when we try to print is something like - This printer is not availble at the present time

The tablets and the printer are all definately connected to the wifi.

I can send things to print from my iPhone without any issues, so Im guessing this is an issue with android devices.

We've also had no problem sending things to print from an HP laptop.

One of the few things we havent looked into yet is the suggestion that the printer and the tablets might be using different broadband frequencies. As I undersatnd it, printers often default to 2.4 ghz, whilst tablets may use the 5 ghz frequency. Even though this doesnt cause an 'incompatability' issue with iphones, it can with andorid devices Ive read.

Hopefult somone can make sense of this and offer some advice.

Many thanks

Hi @Melbourne25,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There are several steps you can take to resolve the printing issue from Android tablets to the HP DeskJet 2810e.

HP App: Ensure that the HP app is installed on both Android tablets. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Setting up the printer through the HP app often resolves connectivity issues.

Verify Network Connection:

  • Confirm that both the printer and the tablets are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart the router, tablets, and printer to refresh the network connections.

Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Check if the printer has any error lights or messages.

Clear Print Queue: Sometimes previous jobs can get stuck in the print queue:

  • Open the Android device's print settings and clear any documents that are pending.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Use the HP app to check for any firmware updates for the printer. Installing the latest firmware can fix bugs and improve compatibility.

Print Service Plugin:

  • Ensure that the HP Print Service Plugin is installed and enabled on the tablets. You can find this plugin in the Google Play Store.

Reboot Devices:

  • Turn off the tablets, printer, and router. Wait for a few minutes and then turn them back on.

If following these steps does not resolve the issue, try printing a diagnostic page or using the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool on another system to identify potential printer connectivity problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi

Thanks for these suggestions, but Ive already tried them all.

Did you have any thoughts regarding the sugestion that the problem may lie with the tablet using the broadbands 5ghz frequency and the printer using 2.4ghz?

Hi @Melbourne25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We request that you connect your printer and tablet to the same frequency, 2.4 GHz.

The issue will get resolved.

Thanks for your reply to my question.

So you do think its likley that im being prevented from printing from my andorid tablet because of the issue with dual frequency routers?

Is this a problem that all android users have? If so, Im surprised it isnt more prominent in the printer set up manual.

Hi @Melbourne25,

Thanks for sharing your concern. It’s not that all Android users face this — but dual‑band routers (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) can sometimes confuse devices when
connecting to printers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
