I have the HP officejetpro 8710 and was able to do a wireless connect between the 8710 and my HP Envy, but I have spent hours on the scanner with no success.  All I get is the "Cannot connect to the server.  Check server name and address."

So how do I check the server name and address, and more importantly, what is supposed to be there?

@dev46

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you get the error - "Cannot connect to server",

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you know that the static IP needs to be assigned to resolve the issue?

If not, here's how to get it done:

-Get your printer's IP Address (Can find this under Network Config under Settings)
-Type the IP into your web browser
-On the left-hand side click on iPV4 under WIRED or WIRELESS (however you are connected)
-Click Manual DNS
-Under preferred type 8.8.8.8
-Under alternate type 8.8.4.4
-Unplug Modem from the wall. Wait 30 seconds. Plug back in.
-Turn off your printer by pushing the power button. Wait 30 seconds. Power on.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if those steps worked for you,

If they did, that's awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck
