Deskjet 2540 All-in-One

Okay so everything was fine and all until i one day decided to enable security on the printer and change the wifi direct password. It was fine because i instatly reconnected with the new password and never had to type it in manually again. then recently i accidentally forgot the wifi network and was promted for the password when trying to reconnect. I don't remember it. I have tried everything:

1. I held the wireless direct button for 3 seconds until it printed out the instruction sheet but no password was on it because of the security settings. To change it I have to access the EWS, which i can't because I can't connect to the network.

2. I tried resetting the printer to network defaults by holding the cancel button and wireless button for 5 seconds, it went through the motions and at the end of it all i tried step 1 again, still no password.

3. I even printed out the Network Configuration Page by pressing the wireless and black photocopy button at the same time hoping the find a password somewhere..... nothing.

I am stumped and I need this resolved really quickly. any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

unfortunately no password still. I have even connected it to the home router as a last resort. Well your security is really good I must add, but factory resetting should be an option somehow, this is unbearable.

So I finally found the solution, I downloaded the desktop software, because i lost the CD. Connected the printer to the home network, after a couple of tries, launched the desktop software and clicked the EWS option. Phew! Finally I'm here and safe to say, I will never enable security again ( not something you want your clients saying huh? ) Can you blame me?

Hi,

Completely reset the wireless settings by pressing and holdig both the Wireless and the cancel buttons for 3 seconds,

Next restart the printer and ensure Wireless Direct is enabled, the light next to it should lit..

Next press and hold the HP wireless direct button () for 3 seconds.

May it now include the password?
