I have an OJ Pro 8720. I Have completed the Scan to Email configuration from the printer web page and when I try to run the test it comes back with the message Invalid Credentials: Check your username/password and try again.
I don't know where the user name and password are entered.
After reading several messages in this forum, I suspect the problem is with the web services setup.
I did note that there is a green checkmark in the HP ePrint icon so I assumed that web services was setup properly.
Was this a valid assumption or do I need to resetup the HP ePrint services and then "try again"?
Can you point me to an easy to follow procedure to remove/resetup web services if this is what my problem is?
If I have another problem can you point me to a procedure to complete the process properly?
Thanx for your help.
Charlie Brown
PS: I also note that I followed the support link at the bottom of the 8720 web page and was taken to a support company that did nothing for the problem. They DEFINITELY were not HP staff!!! I think they were going to try and "fix" a bunch of other things and ask me for money. I disconnected from the site before we got to this point.

Hi,
The quick and easy way is to logon to your printer and edit Outgoing Email profiles to change or edit email addrress and password:
(a) Get your printer IP address (touch wireless icon),
(b) Logon to your printer IP addess,
(c) Go to Scan tab,
(d) Click Outgoing email profiles,
Regards.

One small difference in my setup:
I have a wired connection to the network so I touch the Settings:Network icon to get the IP address.
I mention this because I have had problems getting a wired ethernet connection to work with ePrint before on other HP printers...even though the instructions say Web Services work with both wired and WiFi connections.

ok. here's what you need to do. go to your GMAIL account by select "My Account" or "account" at the top right corner of the google page.
go to security > select "allow less secure apps" and have it turned on
try running the test again from the scan to email page
Hope it helps!

Thanx for the help...I'll be able to try it next week.
Took a minute to find it...To clarify location for others:
My Account
Sign in & Security
Connected Apps & Sites
Allow Less Secure Apps
Off --> On
Hope this helps
Thanx again...I'll let you know if it works when I get to work next week.

I know this is an old question, but I hope to help someone, who like me was looking for an answer to this very irritating problem.
I have an HP Office Pro 8720. You don't need to allow insecure apps in Google, as long as you create a password especially for your printer's access to Gmail:
Sign in using App Passwords
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en
Simply copy and paste the generated password into the "Scan to Email Setup" smtp.gmail.com, port 465
et voila!
