I am trying to set up my HP 1001nw on my Mac for double-sided printing, but I am struggling. I have looked up FAQs and went through the support page and its instructions, however, it is still not working. I am able to get to my printing options on my Mac and through the Show Details, I able to see the Two-Sided setting. However, when I go into the setting to click on it and change it to "Long Edge", my computer would not let me change the setting at all. The setting says "Off" and is gray/darkened.

I tried looking through the settings and set up on the printer itself through the HP Smart app, but it doesn't seem there is a place where I can set up double-sided printing, let alone setting it up as the default.

What am I doing wrong and how can I troubleshoot this?

@GoHuskies, Welcome to HP Support Community!

As per the printer specifications, the printer does not support automatic duplexing, you will have to choose the manual duplex option. Refer to the document https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01935823 for help.

And HP Smart does not show up duplexing options if the printer does not support auto-duplexing.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
