@10053, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP printer to your mobile device using a wired connection. I’ll guide you through the steps to resolve this.

Connecting HP Printer to Mobile via Wired USB (OTG) – Step-by-Step

To connect your mobile device to your HP printer using a USB cable, you’ll need the following:

Requirements:

  1. HP Printer with USB Type-B port (standard printer USB port).
  2. USB OTG (On-The-Go) adapter – to connect your mobile device to the printer.
  3. HP Smart App – installed on your mobile device.

Setup Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Connection

  • Plug the USB cable into the printer.
  • Connect the other end to your OTG adapter, then plug the adapter into your mobile device.

Step 2: Enable USB Permissions

  • When prompted on your mobile device, allow USB access for the connected printer.

Step 3: Open HP Smart App

  • Launch the HP Smart app.
  • Tap “Add Printer” or “Set Up a New Printer”.
  • The app should detect the printer via USB. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • Make sure your mobile device supports OTG. Some older phones may not.
  • Use a high-quality OTG adapter and USB cable.
  • Ensure the printer is powered on and not in error state.
  • If the printer isn’t detected, try restarting both the printer and the mobile device.
