Hi, I have just bought a officejet 3835 and cannot get it to print from my Nokia 1 plus with WiFi direct.

The printer says it is connected (acknowledges it when I connect in settings on fone and says 'number of devices 1 of 5') and the printer shows as connected in settings on fone but when I try to print and choose the direct WiFi printer , it says it is unavailable. I have downloaded both hp smart app and hp service printer app and followed the instructions I can find on the hp website for doing it but still doesn't work.  If I click on the printer it also says it can't connect with the password (which is just 12345678) but this doesn't seem to stop it connecting via settings and it being recognised by both fone and printer. Please help it is driving me mental! Thanks in advance

Welcome to HP support community.

 

Restore network settings to default settings

1. From the Home screen, touch (Wireless), and then touch Settings.

2. Touch Restore Network Setting.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

 

Refer page no.87 in this HP document to connect the printer using WiFi direct:- Click here

Thanks for reply, but I have now tried following the instructions but it still says the printer in unavailable when I try to print! I tried both ways in the instructions (for a WiFi direct mobile and for one which doesn't support WiFi direct). The printer shows up under both WiFi direct and WiFi, and it says it is connected. It also shows up as connected on printer... I have tried printing from different apps to see if that made any difference but no...

Have you tried printing from a different device? 

 

Try updating your phone. 

 

Try a printer reset - 

 

1) Take out the cartridges.

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Wait for 30 seconds. 

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not to a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

 

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
