I’m using my printer with OIS (phone, iPad, macbook) and it’s really unreliable.
Printer is always showing green and available so it is on the network no problem.
Eprint (Email to the printer?) seems to work.
However when I try to print, if I use HP Smart it tends to work (not infallible) but there is less ability to change settings (I like to print 2 to a page)
When I print using Apple standard driver (AirPrint?) it generally doesn’t print. Nothing happens, no error messages. It just doesn’t print. Are HP products just incompatible
I don’t really want to move to using HP Smart as you seem to lose lots of functionality. Can other drivers be used? And/or is it possible to set up standard print functions like print 2 pages per sheet as standard?
thanks in advance!
Iain

Welcome to the HP English Community --
If AirPrint does not work, the issue might be due to the printer's connection (or lack of connection) to your network.
AirPrint is built into your iOS device -- when it cannot connect (see the printer), look to how the printer is connected to your network.
For example,
The printer might have difficulty staying connected to a network in which you have not separated the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz SSID named networks.
What?
Printers typically do not "jump" when (if) the network suddenly changes frequencies from one to another. For example, the printer might drop off the network if the router changes from 5GHz to 2.4GHz.
If possible,
Assign a separate network name to each of the SSID named network frequencies you are running on your router.
Reminder
In General, most apps require that the printer and the device running the application are on the same network.

Example – EWS Setup – IPv4
EWS > HP Document / How-to (original format)
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
NOTE: Find printer IP address
Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation
Ethernet
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Network > Wired (802.3) > IPv4 Configuration
Wireless
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration
As Available:
Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced
Network Interface on / off, Network SSID name, Security Settings, Passphrase / Password
Select and connect to the correct SSID / network name for the bandwidth you are using.
Note: It is not mandatory that you use a manual / static IP address. Doing so can improve stability.
