Hi @dpfinGA
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for raising this thoughtful question. I completely understand how important it is to ensure your printer remains responsive when you need it most.
The AUTO OFF feature on the HP LaserJet MFP M139w is designed to conserve energy by powering down the printer after a period of inactivity.
Connecting the printer to your PC via USB does not disable or override this feature.
However, the printer may remain awake longer if active print jobs or communication from the PC are detected through the cable. If no activity is sensed, the printer will still enter AUTO OFF mode as scheduled.
If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! ✅ It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
