My printer was set up long ago with an eprint address similar to my email, but eprint never worked. I went on HP Connect and it prompted me to get a printer claim code. When I printed the information sheet, only my printer's email address was on it. When I emailed a document to it, it didn't print out. Since there is no human being, apparantly, that I can talk to for support, I tried to fix it myself. As directed on the help site, I removed web services, re-enabled them, printed out a new informatin sheet, and entered that claim code. Then my printer was registered. It issued a new email address wiht that claim code@hpeprint.com, but I want to use that original email address. It wouldn't let me change it, because it said it was already claimed. Yes, I know! By me!

I only see the one printer on HPconnected, but I know I registered it before that email address. I don't know why my printer no longer showed up registered on HP connected, or how to get this one working with the correct hp eprint address again.

Please help! I really need to get this fixed. I am obviously no techie, so use small words, and hopefully a diagram. Where's chocolate...

Presumably, the assigned ePrint address can be reused under the circumstances outlined in the web services how-to document.

How to > Setting Up an HP Connected Account

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to FAQ:

Can I reuse a customized printer email address?

I have had success reusing the address in the first instance (that of having stopped Web Services and then within a very short time, reinstating the service).  I have never had luck reusing an ePrint address in any other context.

Excerpted:

Can I reuse a customized printer email address?

Yes. Before you reuse a customized printer email address, turn off Web Services or change the printer's HP ePrint email address on the current printer.
note:
HP recommends turning off Web Services if you plan to sell, donate, or give away your printer. Go to Turning Off Web Services for more information.
Make sure to cancel any HP Instant Ink subscription services before turning off Web Services. Go to How to Cancel Your HP Instant Ink Plan for more information.
Note the following:
  • You can reuse a customized HP ePrint email address immediately when:
    • You turned off Web Services, restored the printer to factory settings, or performed a printer reset.
    • You purchased a new printer to replace an old printer. You want to use the old printer's email address with the new printer on the same HP Connected account.
    • You removed your printer from one HP Connected account and want to add your printer to a different HP Connected account.
You can reuse your customized email address after 6 months when:
  • You turned off Web Services and transferred your printer to a different HP Connected account.
  • You want to use an existing printer email address with a different printer on a different HP Connected account.

Regardless,

If the address you want is not available for reuse, your options,

  • Contact Web Services support and ask for help (which may or may not be useful / possible)

OR

  • Change the name of the ePrint email address by at least a single character so you can assign the address and move on.

In those cases where I could not force the reuse feature, I have always used the second option since I lacked interest / necessity of pursuing the first option (contact support).

If you choose to contact Support, indicate you need help with ePrint / Web Services.
