when attempting to print, the print center says "the printer is in use"

 

I'm using MAC OS 14.2 Sonoma and also the newest IOS

I solved my own problem.  

 

My wife was unable to print on our DeskJet 4100 from her iPad and continually got the message "the printer is in use". I tried with my iPad and got the same result.  I then tried with my MacBook Air.  Same result.

 

I then turned off the printer, and then back on.

 

Problem solved.
