Are the normal documents (Microsoft Word, PDF etc.) from these two computers printing well?

What is the paper size and type you are using to print these photos?

Make sure the settings to print these photos on the Computer are set right: https://support.hp.com/ph-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6970-all-in-one-printer-series/8289585/documen...

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hi Betty0610.

I did as you recommended and no change happened. I had previously gone to devices and printers and deleted the printer. then deleted the driver , downloaded the file you asked me to run. So, in a way its been done twice. wierd that the printer prints ok from my remote phnes and tablets.

Are you able to copy in color?

You can uninstall and reinstall the built-in driver using this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and then evaluate the results.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

Example of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Let me know how this report looks.

Hi Betty:

First I can copy in color and with out lines.

I then did a quality test and in Pattern 3 my pattern is not solid green like yours  So I did the alignment test and it was good.

The rerun of Quality showed the same pattern. In both there is a very small, almost not noticesable in the top sectionn above the top arrow is a faint streak. From just below the top arrow, the color is consistant with a very ligh shade of green with mixed yellow - poor quality? . Below the bottom arrow there is a streak  or part that is slightly darker green but not as green as the top of the bar, then followed by the yellow/green which is not solid.

Secondly, I did try the link and nothing I saw there would delete the current driver.  Additionally, the process to change device update to auto would not :"take". I would slide it to on, release the mouse and the slider would go back to off.

You can uninstall the driver using the normal method. While installing the built-in driver, you can skip that step and proceed with the rest of the steps.

Let me know.

Thanks 🙂

I will proceed as you noted. In the process i came across this :

SWD\PRINTENUM\WSD-bae2fb6d-56d6-4e2f-b2e3-33c317fc5c90.0031 requires further installation.

Do I need to get this corrected before I do any thing else?

Please try the steps recommended below to uninstall the printer software and to get rid of the message:

Press Windows key + X, click Apps & Features or Programs and Features
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.

Press Windows key + R, type control, hit Enter
Open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on the Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Proceed to reinstall the driver.

Hi Betty:

I did as you asked , got thru finding the printer and deleteing it, when I went to delete the drivers I got one HP driver deleted but when I went for the one with the printer I got:

Unable to remove HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 PLC-3,X64 Type 4 userd mode driver

driver is currently in use.

I checked the print spooler and there are no documents in the que. Do I need to stop a system service?

HP Recommended

@hazel16

Please run the folllowing script.

net stop spooler

del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
net start spooler

I then ran this script to show hidden devices:

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd %SystemRoot%\System32
start devmgmt.msc

Let me know if this helps.
