Hi @Macmarley,

Good Day.   Thank you for stopping by the HP forums. I reviewed the post for assistance to remove the Eprint app. I will be glad to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you with clarity, I would require more information regarding this.

  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for Eprint
  • . If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Eprint If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

This should do the trick for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps.

Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂

HP Officejet 3830 series

HP Envy m6 Notebook

Windows 10 Home version 1803

I looked through the process above but did not actually do any of the actions because I see nothing about restoring previous printer functions.

HP ePrint was installed as part of an HP update as I recall and made itself the default printer.

I can go to the settings > printers & scanners and set the HP Officejet 3830 series (Network) as my default printer, but it changes itself to the “Fax – Officejet 3830 series” setting. If I try to open the queue for HP Officejet 3830 series (Network) I get a message that this printer is not installed on this computer. The printer is connected via WIFI.

When I try to print with Fax – Officejet 3830 series as my printer it tells me the printer is not installed. It then suggests installing the drivers and provides a link. I’ve gone through that process several times with the same result. The printer is still “not installed”.

I am afraid if I uninstall the HP ePrint I wont have any printer at all.

I want to restore the printer setting I had before HP ePrint.

@68Eldo, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Run the Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor  to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

After the Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Fix printing to test your printer, and then follow any instructions to resolve the issue.

Try to print.

Uninstall the HP ePrint completely and install the full-featured software for the printer.

I would recommend you to perform a root level uninstallation and reinstallation of print drivers-

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Once the uninstallation is complete, you can download and install the latest software from here.

Additionally, update the printer firmware.

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. Refer to this document for help.

Let me know if this helps.

Well I do not have a printer. I went through all the steps above and I don’t have access to my printer. I go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. The printer is listed but it has a note “Driver is unavailable”. I can not set it as default printer.

I have rebooted the computer, downloaded and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.2.1 several times and “…download and install the latest software from here.” Several times with no luck.

When I open the HP Print and Scan Doctor it finds the printer and says it is installed. I click next and it says it is communicating with the printer. Step 2 says Default printer is OneNote and gives me two options, Fix Printing and Fix Scanning. I select fix printing. Next it tells me “The full software solution for your product is not installed on this computer.” I click on “install Software”

A new window opens with two choices, Connect a new device or Reconfigure Wireless Settings. Neither seem appropriate, but I click on the first one, connect a new device. It asks me how it is connected, I choose WIFI. Now I get the Thank you page.

Next the HP OfficeJet 3830 series window opens. Ask me to press the wireless button on the front panel. It asks me what is the status. Neither of the options are accurate. But I choose “I see the status is Connected and the Signal strength”. Signal strength is not displayed on this model, but as it sits about 3 feet from the router I think it is good. I see IP address Mac Address and more. So it is connected.

It then asks me for the IP address. I put it in, 192.168.1.107. next is the HP Device Setup Processes. Next is the question “How will you primarily use this device? Where is the device located? (postal code). Does that really make a difference in installation? I enter it anyway. The next window is unable to connect to the internet. So I copy the link to the clipboard and past it into my browser. This page wants me to sign up for insta ink. The next page says register your printer. It was registered a long time ago, but I continue. The next page wants me to create an account. No option to log in. I put my info in to the required places and the page tells my account already exist, please sign in. Then I need to “continue” to the next page and it tells me  “Congratulations! Setup is complete.” Click on Finish and I go to more ads.

But nothing has changed. I still get The printer is listed but it has a note “Driver is unavailable”.

If I try to print from a document the printer is not listed. I can not print from my laptop. I can print from my Android cell phone. I don’t want to send everything to my cell phone to print it out.

What now?

To provide you with an accurate solution, I would like to know the following:

  • Are the printer and the computer in two different locations?
  • If they are in the same location, are they connected to the same network?
  • From your computer, are you trying to print to the email address of the printer i.e., ePrint?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

The printer and the computer are on the same WIFI router. The printer is upstairs and the laptop is downstairs.

When I try to print I can not find the printer in the list of printers.  I see One Note, Microsoft Print to PDF, Microsoft XPS Document writer and the like. No HP printer shows up.  HP ePrint also does not show up as I have deleted it according to instructions above.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows 10 that checks for problems with files on your computer. To run it, follow these steps:

  • Make sure you've installed the latest updates for Windows 10, and then restart your machine. To find out more, read Update Windows 10.
  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Command Prompt, and right-click or press and hold Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the list of results. Select Run as administrator, and then select Yes.
  • Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the space before each "/"), and then press Enter. (Note: This step may take a few minutes to start and up to 30 minutes to complete.)
  • After you see a message that says "The operation completed successfully," type sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/") and press Enter.
  • After you see a message that says, "Verification 100% complete," type exit.

Try installing the printer and see if that helps.

If the issue persists, create a new user account and try installing the printer. Refer to this document to know how to create a new user account.

I went through the first part of this. Your right it takes a long time. End result is no joy. Nothing changed. I don’t have time tonight to create a new user account. So that is for tomorrow.
I do have a concern. At one point during the installation I get a window with the following:
Congratulations! Setup is complete.
Your HP OfficeJet 3830 is connected and ready to print.
You can enroll in HP Ink blah blah blah

Click Finish to explore HP Connected and learn about getting the most from your new printer Blah blah

When I click on finish the window opens with more marketing things. If I try to close that window I get a warning something about the install is not complete and I should copy the link to finish later. If I copy the link and open it in my browser it goes to a blank page with the URL https://oss.hpconnected.com/oss/ui/views/empty.html
So are there more steps after the marketing page?  If so why did the previous page say the setup is complete?  Why does it send me to a blank page?
