Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased a new Envy x360 laptop, and when viewing the sound settings, it shows "no input devices found." The output/speakers are fine. I have uninstalled/reinstalled every audio component and driver available for the laptop, but no luck. Every solution I have found online has to do with updating drivers for a device already showing available in your sound settings, but it is not picking up any microphone equipment. I have spent hours on the chat with HP support already going through various steps, including restoring the computer to factory settings twice, to no avail.

@JetsetBunny If you've reset windows twice among other things and yet the issue persists, this could be a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

P.S: Welcome to HP Community 😉

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.

I have the same issue for a new x360, unable to detect the microphone, i suspect it's a software issue as it was working recently until recent windows 10 updates, i've tried reinstalling realtek drivers to little avail

HP Recommended

ok it appears when windows updated the drivers for the internal microphone were removed.

tried updating windows (was up to date) and reinstalling realtek drivers and also used the audio troubleshooter (windows one and also hp one) without success

I went to device manager -> sound and video and game controllers -> then *updated AMD audio device*. when that happened at audio inputs and outputs -> internal microphone (amd audio device) reappeared and I could use the internal microphone again

HP Recommended

You lost me at "*updated AMD audio device*. " What does that mean?" If the device wasn't showing up (as we've established the issue is) how did you find an update for it?

Thanks for the input. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon.

Hi mate, no problem, it was missing at arrow 2 - the whole subsection internal microphone (AMD audio device), however I managed to update it at arrow 1. And then it reappeared at arrow 2 again. hopefully you have a similar issue.

That makes sense, thank you. At least I wasn't the only one with it completely missing under Audio inputs and outputs!

So I've been obsessively checking Windows update and HP Support Assistant every day to see if there's a driver update I might be missing.  I just got the giant Windows 10 feature update installed, and when that installed, suddenly I had Intel System and Realtek Extension updates available. Row upon row upon row of different Intel files.

Suddenly, it's working. Totally nuts. I'd tried every single driver I could find, and who knows - they suddenly patched it? I know have Intel SST Microphone Array showing up. So not quite the same solution, but still. Ironically, HP just shipped me a box to return it for hardware repair. Thanks again for the input!
