This problem has been happening for quite a while and it is starting to be a problem

When I start playing any audio, being a video or music, there is no sound for the first few seconds. But if I have something that's constantly playing sound in the background, its fine. I think its just a delay in the sound output but it happens when no sound has been played for around 15 seconds. It is cut out for around 2 seconds then starts playing. I'm not sure if it is the drivers or the OS, but it stays the same with different output devices.

Hi @o225,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing audio cutouts for the first few seconds of sound on your HP Pavilion 15.6 Inch Gaming Laptop, there are a few potential solutions you can try.

  • Update audio drivers: Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause various audio issues. Visit the HP support website and download the latest audio drivers specifically designed for your laptop model. Install the drivers and see if the problem persists.
  • Adjust sound settings: Open the sound settings on your laptop and check if any settings are causing the audio cutouts. Ensure that the volume levels are properly adjusted and no enhancements or effects are enabled that might interfere with the sound playback.
  • Disable audio enhancements: Some audio enhancements or special effects can cause conflicts and lead to audio issues. Go to the sound settings, locate the audio enhancements section, and disable any options enabled there. Test if the audio problem still occurs.
  • Run the audio troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve common audio problems. To access it, go to the Control Panel, select "Troubleshooting," then "Hardware and Sound," and finally "Troubleshoot audio playback." Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
  • Check external connections: If you're using external speakers or headphones, ensure that the connections are secure. Try unplugging and re-plugging the audio cables to make sure there are no loose connections or faulty cables causing the issue.
  • Test with different audio sources: Verify if the audio cutout issue occurs with various audio sources such as local media files, online videos, or streaming services. This can help determine if the problem lies with a specific application or across all audio playback on your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
