Hi @menelas29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing intermittent audio issues on your HP Envy Laptop 17-cw0011nf following a Windows update, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Update Audio Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support Website and search for your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest audio drivers for your specific HP laptop model.

Roll Back to Previous Driver:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click the Realtek or Cirrus Logic audio device and select Properties.
  • Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver if the option is available.

Install Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for new updates.

Run Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Click on Additional troubleshooters and select Playing Audio.
  • Run the troubleshooter and follow on-screen instructions.

Check for Realtek Audio Console:

  • Ensure that the Realtek Audio Console (if applicable) is installed and configured correctly. You might need to download this from the Microsoft Store if it's missing.

Audio Enhancement Settings:

  • Open Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab.
  • Right-click on your audio device and select Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements.
  • Click Apply then OK.

Check Output Device:

  • Ensure that the correct output device is selected in your audio settings. Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select Open Sound settings to verify.

Reboot the System:

  • After applying all changes, consider rebooting your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.

By following these steps, you can identify whether the issue is driver-related or if there's a different underlying problem in your system configuration.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
