Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has a combined audio jack and I have used an external microphone on a mic/headphone splitter without problems.

Since a January Windows 10 update, as soon as I plug in anything into the external audio jack, neither microphone nor speakers work in applications such as zoom, youtube, windows media player.

The Bang & Olufsen control panel shows internal and external devices correctly. Windows audio settings show all internal and external devices correctly. Built-in speaker is the only speaker shown and the default whether a microphone is plugged into the audio jack or not. The sound control panel will even show the green volume bars go up and down at the correct speaker device, but no sound comes out of the speakers when an external mic is plugged in.

Again, all this worked correctly before the January 2021 Windows 10 update.

I updated all audio drivers, reinstalled the Conexant software, I don't know what else to look at.

@Rudi_W

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with audio after installing the latest Windows update.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you run the audio troubleshooter and it will automatically find and fix audio issues.

- Launch Troubleshooting by typing and clicking “Troubleshooting” in Windows search.

 - Click on "Playing Audio".

 - Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you continue facing the issue, then uninstall the audio driver from the device manager and then download and install the driver from the below link.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
