Hi @tyd67

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand that your HP OmniBook X Flip 14 (14-kc0000) is not producing any sound and the audio appears to be disabled in Windows 11. Thank you for providing the product and operating system details.

Since Windows is showing the audio as disabled, let's work through the recommended troubleshooting steps to restore sound functionality.

Check the Audio Output Device

  • Select the speaker icon on the Windows taskbar.
  • Make sure the volume is not muted.
  • Select the arrow next to the volume slider and verify that the correct speaker device is selected.
  • If multiple audio devices are listed, choose the internal speakers and test the audio.

Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Locate Audio and select Run.
  • Follow the on-screen recommendations and restart the notebook if prompted.

Verify Audio Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate:
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
  • Confirm both services show Running and Automatic startup type.
  • Restart both services if needed.

Reinstall the Audio Driver

  • Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
  • Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
  • Select the option to remove the driver if available.
  • Restart the notebook.
  • Windows should automatically reinstall the audio driver.

Update Drivers Through HP Support

  • Open HP Support Assistant if installed.
  • Check for available driver, firmware, and BIOS updates.
  • Install all recommended updates and restart the system.

Perform an Audio Test in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Turn it on and repeatedly tap Esc.
  • Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  • Run the Audio Component Test.
  • Note any failure ID displayed during the test.

Check Device Manager for Disabled Devices

  • In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
  • If the audio device shows a down-arrow icon, right-click it and select Enable device.
  • Restart the notebook and test audio again.

Verify Windows Sound Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  • Under Output, ensure the internal speakers are recognized.
  • If no output device is listed, proceed directly with the hardware diagnostics test mentioned above.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
