HP Dragonfly G4
Linux

Hello,

be recently purchased several HP Dragonfly G4 i7-notebooks to be used with Fedora Linux.

The sound is crackling, and as soon as the volume reaches >40-60%, it is suddenly gone.

"sudo dmesg | grep cs35l41-hda" gives "cs35l41-hda spi0-CSC3551:00-cs35l41-hda.1: Amp short error".

We have a current kernel (6.11) and installed the most recent bios firmware (01.06.03), but the problem persists.

Researching the problem indicates that some system defined properties are missing in the BIOS. The G3 probably had the same or a very similar problem, which was solved with the firmware-update of August 4th 2023.

Can HP provide a fix for this device too?

Best Regards,

David

This problem remains even with the latest bios 01.07.00 Rev.A, tested on archlinux with kernel 6.12.4
