When I plug in my camera, I lose audio and microphone access. Microphone and audio work fine when the camera is unplugged.

Any suggestions? As long as I don't use the external camera, it works fine. I tried reloading new drivers for the camera, updating my operating system to make sure it has the latest fixes. The audio and microphone still cut out as soon as the camera is plugged in. When I go to check the audio devices while the camera is plugged in, it says there are no devices.

Hi @Weaver124,

Thank you for the response.

Try these steps:

Check Default Audio Devices:

  • Go to your sound settings in Windows (Control Panel > Sound or right-click the sound icon on the taskbar and select Open Sound settings).
  • Ensure that your desired playback and recording devices are set as default. The camera might be automatically set as the default audio device when plugged in, which could disable your actual audio and microphone devices.

Device Manager Settings:

  • Open Device Manager and check for any conflicts or issues with your audio drivers or the camera driver.
  • Right-click the audio devices and select Update driver to ensure you have the latest drivers installed.

USB Power Management:

  • Sometimes, USB power settings might cause conflicts. Go to Device Manager, find Universal Serial Bus controllers, and double-click each entry.
  • In the Power Management tab, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power if checked.

Update USB and Audio Drivers:

  • Ensure all your drivers are up-to-date. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers for your audio system and the camera.
  • Consider reinstalling drivers if updating does not resolve the issue.

Conflicts with Audio Drivers:

  • Sometimes, certain cameras may have their own built-in microphones which can conflict with your computer's audio settings. Disabling the camera's audio input and output in the Sound settings might help.

Check for Third-Party Software Interference:

  • Some third-party software, particularly those related to sound management (like third-party equalizers or enhancements), might interfere with your system settings.

I hope this helps.
