Hi @Pikku,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the volume control on your HP laptop stopped working after upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, there are several potential solutions you can try to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can solve hardware and software glitches. Restart your laptop and see if the volume control starts working again.

Check Audio Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up-to-date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause issues with hardware functionality.

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
  • Locate the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
  • Right-click on your audio device and choose "Update driver."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

Roll Back Audio Driver: If updating the driver doesn't solve the issue, you can try rolling back to the previous version:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your audio device and select "Properties."
  • Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

Check Windows Update: Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Windows updates often include fixes for various issues, including driver problems.

  • Go to "Settings" > "Windows Update" and check for updates.

Run Windows Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can automatically fix some common problems.

  • Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Troubleshoot."
  • Run the troubleshooter for "Playing Audio."

Restore to Previous Windows Version: If the issue persists and you suspect that it's related to the Windows 11 upgrade, you may consider rolling back to the previous version of Windows.

  • Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Recovery."
  • Under "Go back to the previous version of Windows 10," click "Get started" and follow the instructions.

Check for Manufacturer Updates: Visit the HP support website to check if there are any specific drivers or updates for your laptop model related to the Windows 11 upgrade.

Before making significant changes, it's advisable to back up your important data to prevent any potential data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
