Hello,
My Spectre 360 has started getting random pop-ups indicating I have either plugged-in or unplugged a device from my Bang & Olufsen audio jack. I have updated all drivers, restarted the computer, and checked various forums, and ensured my Windows software is up to date (Windows 10 Home 64-bit). As far as I can tell, the audio program my computer is using is Conexant SmartAudio HD. I have seen solutions for similar Realtek problems, but nothing for Bang & Olufsen.
The message generally appears anytime I adjust the angle of my monitor, but also happens at random. This glitch has basically rendered my computer useless when it comes to watching videos as it causes the sound to cut-out.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
LincFrag

Hi! @LincFrag, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand you keep getting "You just plugged/unplugged a device from the audio jack" notification on your PC.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
Does the issue persist when you connect a headphone to your PC?
Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned "You just plugged/unplugged a device from the audio jack" notification on your PC.
I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.
Check if the audio port has anything stuck inside it.
Try the steps recommended below.
Go to Settings > System > Notifications and actions and under Get notifications from these senders, scroll down and turn off Realtek HD Audio Manager
Also, try the steps recommended below.
First, open the Realtek HD Audio Manager by pressing the Cortana taskbar button and entering ‘audio manager’ in the search box.
Click Realtek HD Audio Manager to open its window as below.
First, click the i button at the bottom right of the window. That will open the window in the snapshot below.
Select the Display icon notification area option, and press the OK button.
Next, click the yellow folder icon that’s almost at the top right corner of the audio manager’s window.
Select the Disable front panel jack detection option on the Connector Settings window.
If it’s selected, deselect the Enable auto popup dialog option; and press the OK button.
Click the Device Advanced Settings window link at the top right of the audio manager to open playback and audio device settings.
Select the Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously playback option.
Select the Tie up same type of input jacks, i.e., line-in or microphone, as an input device recording device option.
Press the OK button on the Device advanced settings window.
Click the green active back panel speaker icon on the right of the Speakers tab.
Select Set Default Device from the drop-down menu on the right of the Speakers tab.
Next, click the Microphone tab; and select the red back panel activate microphone icon.
Click Set Default Device on the Microphone tab’s drop-down menu.
Finally, press OK to apply the new settings.
Try restoring the BIOS to defaults and check if it helps.
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Also, Try the steps recommended below.
Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.
In the list of audio device drivers, look for IDR or Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).
Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)
Right-click and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
In the Model box, highlight High Definition Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.
At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Click Close.
In the list of audio device drivers in the Sound, video and game controllers section, you’ll notice that the High Definition Audio Device now displays instead of IDT or Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio.
At the prompt to reboot, click Yes.
If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.
Is the loudness equalization off? If not, please:
Right, click the speaker icon
select 'Playback Devices'.
Highlight the default device
Click Properties
Click Enhancements tab
Next to 'Loudness Equalization' take out the check mark in the box.
Click Apply
Click OK
If the issue still persists uninstall the audio driver from device manager and install the drivers using HP recovery manager.
