I got a Pavillion Dv7, just wondering what levels people use for EQ settings, I listen to a lot of rap (i.e. A$AP Rocky) or house etc etc (i.e. Swedish House Mafia)
I've got Bass, def, center, space, focus
31Hz, 65Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 6kHz, 10kHz

Cheers

I originally quered about the Beats sound driver and HDMI connections. Even though I have a PC rig I also have a dv7 with the same Beats aboard. When I changed the gpu in my desktop it naturally changed the HDMI settings as it more or less took over that department over-riding the IDT driver, that said I am trying to have an equalizer set up in the playback setting.

I am currently trying the ProfoundSoundCSharp driver to see if it will overlay my existing drivers and according to them their new update v1.0.1.6 is suppose to address this issue but so far no luck.

I run my sounds through my flat screen then the out put from there to my home stereo and would like to be able to ' tweak ' the sounds for it  including but not limited to Pandora and CD's and that sort of thing. Any body have any ideas on how to go about finding  this sound nirvana? Beats on my laptop for some reason shows IDT High Definition out put but the desktop does not show any hig def. I'm all ears or is that tears to any suggestions and no I'm not going to use my crap-top to play it with.

Just got the stand alone sound driver ( ProfoundSoundCSharp) and thanks wjcole in your earlier post this thing is the cat daddy. Got the free trial and downloaded it, it auto made itself the default driver then you go to Launch in the launcher it will ask you which sound driver you would like to play through ( I chose HDMI of course) and bingo it worked like a charm. Now I can tweak all the sounds and brother this thing does make a difference. It does cost $4.95 but it was worth it.

You don't have to disable anything and can leave Beats alone if you wish and the good news is all your other sound stuff stays in place to be called upon when chosen. Color me in as SOLVED.

Beats was using loudness equalization and I couldn't turn it off, so I disabled beats from the beats interface. Immediately, I heard the sound quality drop. I went into the speaker properties, and lo and behold, beats had turned my bass all the way down and my treble all the way up. I set both to 0, and clicked OK. It sounded just as good as when beats was on, but the loudness equalization was still on. Later, when I restarted my laptop, the bass was back down, and the treble was back up, but beats was still disabled. Does anyone know how I can disable loudness equalization and prevent beats from reseting my tone controls?

I've got recently  an HP Envy 17 notebook and my sound device is an IDT HD audio codec.

Can anyone help me or suggest a preferable EQ setting in the Beats Audio that is tuned for classical music. It is my first time that i'm using the Beats Audio so any help is welcomed.

Thank you.

I'll add my .02 ...

In a previous life I was a sound engineer for live music.  My home stereo costs more than most people's vehicle.  I only listen to music through horns powered by Class A amplification and vinyl is best IF you keep it clean!

I listen to everything from Classical to Rap and in-between.  To me the key is neutral regardless of the music being played.  There is no EQ setting for classical vs. rap ... it should ALWAYS be neutral.  Anything outside of that is simply personal preference or compensation for frequency loss in your hearing.

Without further ado, here are my settings for the crappy laptop speakers on my m6 Sleekbook:

Bass - 35
Treble - 0
Center - 50
Space - 50
Focus - 50
65Hz - 7
125Hz - 11
250Hz - -7
500Hz - 1
1kHz - -7
3kHz - -4
6kHz - 4
9kHz - 1
12kHz - 15

Enjoy!

G'day.....I read your article and went through the steps you said to do and it did change the sound to a much more natural sound, I have just purchased a set of monitor speakers and was fed up with the sound levels changing while listening to tracks,  unfortunately when I opened Cool Edit Pro 2 I was not able to use it as a recording program anymore, it came up saying A Devicde Id has been used that is out of range of your system... Windows 8 32-bit, CPU @3.20GHz, Intel core i5-3470, 8Gb ram.... am I able to install another driver to be able to make the Cool Edit work, I really don't want the IDT in the computer, the sound was awful, I will check back to see if you know what I can do and I thank you for any help....Colin

Dear KGB999, you are now my biggest hero!

As a want-to-be music producer the whole beats audio deal was ruining everything. And the more I listened to music the more I became aware of volume swings that clearly wasn't supposed to be there... This in turn ruined my ability to enjoy listening to music on my laptop.

I hardly care about the features that I'm not missing out on, I've spent so much time reading on this forum, trying little things here and there, but your sollution just works! And as a side bonus Beats Audio is now gone from my system tray as well...

You've made my ENVY worth keeping, thank you so frikkin much!!

--- EDIT ---

And then I tried taking the headphones off...

Previously I wasn't even aware that my laptop had speakers on the backside (the part that it usually stands on, reverse of the keyboard) ...now they are the ONLY ones playing. I don't even know what to do anymore... I'll have to go back to the official drivers I guess, because I'm mostly using the laptop speakers rather than my headphones.. But it's either **bleep**ty sound & laptop speakers working or listenable sound without laptop speakers working... what a f---king mess... HP, I hate you! Sad to say it, but this sucks and now I've lost all respect for your brand. Writing it here hardly matters because it's not like you're gonna read on your own support forum anyway 😞

There is a good little driver called ASIO4ALL that if you wish can make a better difference and it's free; also ProfoundSound has two offerings one is $1.99 5 band and thier best is a $4.95 10 band with all sorts of controls that I went with that sounds great and you can use HDMI cables to connect to what ever you have and play it over other systems for things like Pandora or Spotify or your own recordings. It is a one time purchase and they update it. I ditched Beats on my laptop and pc as the HDMI's were useless for some reason. And in these days and times that should be a given in my book.
