Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. I am using a HP 17-cn1063cl. After some time (maybe some updates), I can't use the built in microphone. The device is using Intel Smart Sound for Microphones drivers.

The problem is: I can't set the microphone's volume to any other value than 0.  What is the cause of it? I will drop some screenshots of my configuration (It's in Polish).

What version of Realtek(R) Audio driver is currently on?
It is possible that the version of the Realtek(R) Audio driver or Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller on your laptop is not compatible with its firmware.

I have seen and downloaded your driver version 6.0.9503.1 with detailed explanation on its page like this (sp147054)Here is the download link for sp147054 if you want to revert to the old driver version.
I suspect, the extension driver version for your Realtek(R) Audio driver is no longer compatible, therefore you must get the appropriate driver or rollback back to the driver version from the official HP website.

From that page I adjusted it to the list of hardware IDs in the driver package via Microsoft Update Catalog, the result is that there are 2 Intel Microphone driver extensions for Realtek.

Thus, the latest driver version that is suitable for your laptop is sp155721 which also has an Intel(R) SST Audio Controller driver. Here is information about sp155721, the download link is here.

That's all I can suggest.

Hello again.

I've downloaded the content of this link. First installer extraced a folder SWSetup with spxxxxxx inside it. With the administrator rights, I opened the HPUP.exe (a .txt log file was created, but nothing else happened). Then, I stared executing the "install.bat" (nothing happened), and "installdrv.bat" - a CMD window appeared with this text on:

C:\Windows\System32>REM ========================================================

C:\Windows\System32>REM Driver deliverable installation

C:\Windows\System32>REM ========================================================

But it stays like that for a couple minutes, then disappears.

After all of that, rebooting the laptop - the problem still persists. Is there something I did wrong? I'd love to get a more comperhensive instruction 🙂
Thanks

Sorry, I took a long time to reply because I was busy the past few days.

Previously I gave 2 sp15******.exe, and it just needs run in administrator mode, yes as usual. After that just need to restart your laptop.

Now, what version of the Realtek(R) Audio driver is on your laptop?

Update too the firmware for your laptop via the official HP website.

My Realtek Audio driver version is 6.0.9712.1.

I'll try updating the firmware via the HP website and will post whether it works or not.

I used the HP update app in order to download these packages:

They contain 2x realtek audio drivers and some I/O drivers - didn't work.

The laptop was bought in mid 2022 I guess - do you think a factory settings reset would make it work again?

Hmm, yeah, looks like you should try reinstalling Windows.

If possible, install Windows 11 at the same time, whether you want the Home or Pro version. Try asking Mr. Paul_Tikkanen for advice here.

There are actually other options too, namely clean install, using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or DriverStore software.

Uninstall all drivers related to your Realtek driver, starting from the Audio Processing Objects, Extensions, Software components categories, then finally uninstall Realtek(R) Audio in the Sound, video, and game controllers category.
