Hi @Owner22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the volume on your HP laptop is unusually soft and you're unable to increase it, there are several potential reasons and solutions you can try.

  • Check Volume Settings: First, make sure that the volume isn't muted or set too low in the operating system's volume settings. You can usually access these settings by clicking on the volume icon in the taskbar (usually at the bottom right of the screen) and adjusting the slider.
  • Update Audio Drivers: Outdated or corrupt audio drivers can cause issues with sound output. Try updating your audio drivers to the latest version. You can usually do this through Device Manager on Windows or through Software Update on macOS.
  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve software glitches that may be affecting your laptop's audio.
  • Check External Speakers or Headphones: If you're using external speakers or headphones, make sure they're properly connected and functioning correctly. Sometimes, the issue may lie with the external device rather than the laptop itself.
  • Run Audio Troubleshooter: Both Windows and macOS have built-in audio troubleshooters that can help identify and fix common audio problems. You can find these in the Control Panel on Windows or in System Preferences on macOS.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue with your laptop's speakers or audio output jack.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and hopefully resolve the issue with your HP laptop's low volume.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
