Hi,
Second ZBook in one month produces cracking sound with speakers and headphones. Cracking is with an 30-60 seconds interval.
Narrowed the problem down to HP Sure Run; if enabled it produces the audio cracks.
Disabled all the checked boxes of HP Sure Run, but left the main checkbox of HP Sure Run checked to keep the application enabled. The audio cracking stays.
After disabling HP Sure Run completly the audio is perfect, no more cracking sound.
Audio drivers are up to date (Intel(R) Display Audio - 10.25.0.10 and Conexant ISST Audio - 9.0.222.0).
The audio troubleshooting didn't point to any errors.
Windows 10 is the latest version 1803.
What can be done to stop the cracking?

Hi,
I also performed the system check, without any errors.
Perhaps reverting back to an older driver helps, so will try that next.
Do you have HP Sure Run enabled?
Try disabling HP Sure Run en let me know if the cracking sound stops.

The first Zbook I got had the cracking sound from the beginning, along with some other issues. I fully installed all the neccassary software and data straight out of the box, before discovering it was a DOA.
The second one I decided to give it more time in between software installs, so I didn't configure HP Secure Client right away. After a week of running whitout problems, I enabled fingerprints etc. with HP Secure Client.
After that the cracking of audio started so from that point it was disabling the HP Secure Client components one by one, and HP Sure Run floated to the surface as the source.
Strangest thing however is that if all the monitor options under HP Sure Run are disabled (all the boxes unchecked), the cracking sound stays.
That leads to the conclusion that the application self, not the activity performed by the apllication (monitoring), is interfering with the audio(driver).
Serious problem I reckon.
How to solve it I dunno. Haven't tried reverting back to an older driver yet.
