Looking for a driver for Audio for LE Hearing Aids

Hi @paul210358,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Here’s what you need to know about drivers for LE Audio hearing aids on HP notebooks:

What is LE Audio and Why It Matters

Bluetooth LE Audio is a newer standard that allows direct streaming to hearing aids with better sound quality, lower latency, and longer battery life. It’s supported starting with Windows 11 (version 24H2) and requires:

  • PC hardware that supports Bluetooth LE Audio (not just Bluetooth LE).
  • Updated Bluetooth and audio subsystem drivers from HP or Intel.
  • LE Audio-compatible hearing aids (check your hearing aid specs).

Driver Availability

HP does not provide a separate “LE Audio driver” for hearing aids. Instead, LE Audio support depends on:

  • Bluetooth chipset drivers (Intel or Realtek).
  • Audio drivers (Realtek or AMD).
  • Windows 11 updates (24H2 or newer).

If your HP notebook only supports Bluetooth Classic or basic Bluetooth LE, LE Audio will not work, even with Windows 11.

Steps to Enable LE Audio on HP Notebook

  1. Update Windows
    • Ensure you have Windows 11 24H2 or newer.
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all updates.

  2. Update HP Drivers
    • Visit Official HP® Support
    • Enter your notebook model → Download the latest Bluetooth and Audio drivers.

  3. Check Bluetooth Hardware
    • Press Win + R, type devmgmt.msc → Expand Bluetooth.
    • Look for Intel AX201/AX211 or Realtek 8852BE (these support LE Audio with proper drivers).

  4. Enable LE Audio in Settings
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
    • If supported, you’ll see the “Use LE Audio when available” toggle.

Important Notes

  • If your notebook does not support LE Audio hardware, you cannot enable this feature via drivers alone.
  • Proprietary hearing aid protocols like ASHA (Android) or MFi (Apple) are not compatible with Windows LE Audio.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
