Hello everyone,

Im facing a problem with my laptop related to the HDMI cable

it never happened before, but im not sure why it's happening now

the problem is when I connect the HDMI cable and connect my laptop with the TV, the screen is showing on the TV but the sound is only coming from my laptop not from the TV.

Can anyone help me with that please.

Thank you.

@samf2 Welcome to HP Community!

First things first, if your HDMI device is not set as the default device, the HDMI output is unavailable. Here’s how you can set the HDMI device as the Default Device:

  1. Right-click on the volume icon on the task bar.
  2. Select ‘Playback devices’ > in the newly open Playback tab, simply select Digital Output Device or HDMI.
  3. Select ‘Set Default’ > click OK. Now, the HDMI sound output is set as default.

Also, make sure that the ‘Show disconnected devices’ option is enabled, so that your PC can display all the devices connected to it.

Update the BIOS, Chipset and graphics card drivers using the HP website.

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
