When I turn my computer on the sound works fine. If I have to do a restart or in sleep mode the sound stops working. I have changed and updated drivers and still doesn't work. If I turn it off and then back on it will usually start working again.

Could you please help me with the exact model name or the product number of the notebook?

Meanwhile,

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted, how it goes!

HP Envy 15t, L6D38AV, SN 5CG54010PT. I have used Support Assistant and everything you an imagine to correct this issue. I have removed the drivers and the restarted. If I get the sound to work The next restart or sometimes if I shut it down the sound does not wor. Sometimes if the sound doesn't work and I shut it down when it comes back up the sound will work again. It is driving me crazy and about ready to just trash it. It's not worth much more headaches over it if I can't get a solution pretty soon. I also have issues with the touchpad will stop working. I have doene the same things to try to get it to work. Sometimes if I restart it will work until I close the lid and then when I open the lid it will no longer work.

Since you are facing multiple software issues which always seem to work when you restart your Notebook, I suggest you perform a Reset

Please follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289 😊

I did do a reset and I still have the same problem with the sound and touchpad.

I suggest you perform an Audio Test and Touchpad Test from F2 Diagnostic to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Audio ( Next perform the Touchpad Test )

Already did that a couple of times and it didn't show anything. I wonder what kind of expense I would be looking at to send it to HP for repair?
