Hi @Feda777

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a common issue when downgrading from Windows 11 to Windows 10, where the sound stops working. This often happens due to missing or incompatible audio drivers. Let’s go through the troubleshooting steps systematically to get your sound working again.

1. Check the Audio Output Device

Sometimes, the issue can be related to the audio output device settings, especially if you have multiple devices (headphones, Bluetooth speakers, external speakers) connected.

Steps:

  1. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Open Sound Settings.
  2. Under Output, make sure the correct audio device (e.g., Speakers) is selected.
  3. Try toggling between different output devices if you see more than one listed.

2. Update or Reinstall the Audio Drivers

The most common cause of no sound after a Windows version downgrade is outdated or incompatible drivers.

Steps to update or reinstall audio drivers:

Open Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.

Find the Audio Drivers:

  • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
  • Right-click on your audio device (it might be something like Realtek High Definition Audio, Conexant, or similar) and select Update driver.

Search for Updated Drivers:

  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will search for any available updates and install them if found.

If No Updates Are Found, try Reinstalling the Drivers:

  • Right-click the audio device again and choose Uninstall device. When prompted, select Delete the driver software for this device (if available).
  • Restart your laptop.
  • Windows should attempt to reinstall the default audio driver on reboot.

3. Install the Latest Audio Drivers from HP

If Windows doesn't provide the correct drivers or the automatic update doesn’t work, you may need to manually install the drivers from HP’s website.

Steps:

  1. Visit HP Support:
    • Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop model number (e.g., HP Laptop 17-cn2083dx).
  2. Find Audio Drivers:
    • Navigate to Drivers & Downloads and select your operating system (Windows 10).
    • Look for the Audio Drivers (e.g., Realtek or Conexant audio driver).
    • Download and install the latest audio drivers provided for your model.
  3. Restart Your Laptop after installing the drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
