Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I got a new device last week, the one I am currently typing on. I get a message of No Audio Output Device Installed with a red X on the speaker icon, and I can't use my microphone or speaker when this happens. I did try the Windows Troubleshooters, HP Diagnostics, and even tried reinstalling the drivers, but to no avail.

This issue seems to happen mostly when I wake my laptop from sleep, after the default 10/15 min timeout. Please help me fix this issue, as I am currently out of station and I won't be able to get it to the retail store currently. I need it urgently for my college lectures and general stuff.

Points to note:

1. No audio after extended periods of usage or after waking from sleep

2.The onboard mic or headphone jack doesn't work too when this happens

3.Bluetooth headsets work fine even when this happens, but I wouldn't prefer using headsets for extended periods of time

4.All Windows troubleshooters, HP Diagnostics and driver reinstallation has been performed, but to no avail

Should I get my PC replaced? It is still under HP Manufacturer Warranty, and it has been a week since I got it from the store.

Hi! I did install all the updates I had for my laptop, including the BIOS, and manually tried to update the drivers of each component in devmgmt.msc.

I do seem to have a lot of optional driver updates available in Windows Update, including some for my HP Printer and one with the name "HP Software component- 1.34.2424.0" which I don't know what this update is for.

This issue also affects my mic and headphone jack as they are unusable too, and temporarily work after a cold boot or a restart. The mute light on the keyboard doesn't work when this happens.

HI@Sebastian26,

Let's try the last steps.

Uninstall the keyboard drivers from the devices manager and restart the computer after logging in press and hold the power button for 60sec.

I hope that should fix the issue.

Uninstalling the keyboard drivers made it worse. I couldn't type even after multiple reboots, and I had to use an external keyboard to get my stuff off of my laptop to my external HDD. I then reset my laptop to the factory image via Windows Settings, which seems to have fixed all my problems with my laptop. Now the speakers and the keyboard work well.

You guys should take better notice of such issues which have been reported in your own forums in 2019.

Anyways, thank you so much, as I've been able to get my PC back working perfectly, as it should be. Please do take care and stay safe!

PS: How do I close this thread? My issue has been solved(at least for now, I hope no more issues arise)
