in the recording tab, there you should have Stereo Mix as a default, but that is not a microphone.

The issue happened to be with this particular driver,  I had done an update.  My mic stopped working.  Once i rolled it back to use this driver, my mic has been working again.  The 2024 Driver update caused the mic to stop working.
