Hi all,
I have a Pavilion s/n [edited] p/n GH094EA#ABE, recently I changed hard disk to a SSD 256 gb, installed Windows 7 and have some troubles:
1. No audio: There is no sound with speakers, audio controler (Conexant Audio) seems to be ok, but with headphones it works... I have tried everything but can't find a solution, I don't know what to do... I'll back to Windows Vista Home for the next trouble, perhaps it helps:
2. Upgrade Ram to 4gb (2+2): Actually I have 1gb and will want to upgrade to 4. I read that some users got it by upgrading Bios from Vista (never from Win7, so I will back to Vista) to F.25 or newer version. My actual Bios is F.2E and have processor Genuine Intel (R) CPU T2080 @ 1.73GHZ.
Could you please telling me if upgrade will be possible to my HP? If yes, I'll be greatfull about a link to the exactly executable spxxxxx.exe file to update bios, and for a ram 2+2 model (crucial DDR2?)
Thank you so much in advanced for your help, perhaps I'm a romantic about my Notebook, but I think It can still works for some more years.
Best Regards,
Un saludo

Hi again,
Thanks for all your info, and apologyze for don't give a prompt answer!
I went back to Win Vista, updated Bios with same F.2E (was not able to find any other newer...) and new rams togheter unanfortunately didn't work...
Point is If my HP doesn't support 4gb, it shouldn't have worked with 2gb+512 mb, but it did it...finally and probably is that only supports max. 2 gb, despite of some (lucky) users got it...
I returned rams to Amazon, and perhaps in future I will try with another diferent ram's brand... not sure, but if it will works I will back to you.
In the meantime, I want to say thanks again for your help and support, and wish you a nice sumer. I hope you'll enjoy holidays! 🙂
Best regards
Un saludo

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The supported processors are listed in chapter 1.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf
Audio: The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the latest Vista audio driver for your PC. There are no W7 drivers.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35849.exe
If that doesn't fix the problem, the connection from the audio chip to the speakers is probably broken, since the headphone jack produces sound.
F.2E was the latest BIOS released for your notebook.
BIOS updates are cumulative, so F.2E will support the 2 x 2 GB of memory upgrade.

Hi again,
Thank you so much for your prompt answer, I opened Laptop, cleaned audio conection and it worked only for a while, so I ordered a new flex cable on ebay. When I change it I'll let you know.
Abour rams, could you please recommend me about the following ones?:
Option A: Two units of:
Option B: looks like cheaper but good enough?!
My actual ram has 4 blocks, should I buy ones with same 4 blocks or it doesn't matter if new has 8 blocks?
Thank you so much again,
Best Regards
Un saludo

You're very welcome.
I've never heard of either brand memory, so I don't know if it would work or not.
I would spend a little more money and get name brand memory that is almost sure to work.
At the 2 GB and beyond size, you want memory with the 8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board.
PC2-6400 will work fine in your model. It will automatically 'downclock' or 'bridge' to 667 MHz.

Hi again,
I received flex cable and changed, and sound works again! Many thanks
But about Rams, I replaced old ones by the new samsungs and screen got black, with no beeps. HP turns on, sounds hard disk but doesn't start... I tried some tips and to disconnect batery (pila cmos) but didn't work.
Following HP Manual I'm start to think I will be able to upgrade only to 2 Gb (one 2gb ram worked fine).....Not sure if I return to W.Vista i(now W7) will works, as bios firmware is the latest as you confirmed... Could you please give me any other tip or idea?...
Thank you so much again,
Best Regards,

Hi again,
2gb + 512 m (instead 1), didn't work, I think there were some beeps (not sure how much, I did it yesterday a little late at night, two little and active boys...)
HP gaves 4 short beeps too with new Rams, before desconnecting the batery/pila, after that no more beeps...
Not sure if I need to change something in Bios, or any other task
Thanks again

You're very welcome.
There are no settings to change in the BIOS.
The memory should have worked and Windows would report around 3 GB of 4 GB usable.
Unfortunately I have no idea why the memory isn't working.
