HP17z notebook-does the audio jack take the four electrode plug used in stereo headphone/mic combos?

I  have an HP17z AMD-12 notebook I bought in March.  I'm thinking of purchasing a Koss Portapro headphone/mic combo set.  These things seem to have an audio plug with four electrodes, like the link.

Can I just plug this into my audio jack and use my stereo headphones and mic?

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Most of the HP laptops support a 3.5mm headphone jack. Looking at the specifications of the headphones it is a 3.5mm headphone jack and it should work with the laptop.
