Well testing with the AC adapter unplugged it was worth a shot. I hoped it would have worked for you. I'm tempted to install the Intel core graphics drivers off their website to see if that changes the bad audio behavior. HP tweaks Intel's core drivers to their specifications then that's what we have installed in our computers. I believe HP has a driver issue here.

HP, for those of you that monitor this forum you need to recognize that this audio problem needs to be moved up the chain so we stop suffering with distorted audio on our laptops. Many of us use out laptops everyday for business purposes and cannot conduct our jobs properly when our equipment we depend on everyday does not function properly.

We are frustrated... Please help us.

@HP you really need to address the speaker distortion issue. These days, we are spending a *lot* of time on calls, and ensuring distortion-free audio is *extremely* important. We can't spend the entire day wearing headphones. It is quite frustrating that such issues remain in high-end laptops---I am sure a simple quality control check can surface this problem. Here's another interesting fact: my wife has a Spectre x360 13 inch, and even that has the exact same audio distortion problem. So clearly the problem is widespread. You really need to address this.
