I have dv6-6154tx latop.
Whenever i try to click the system tray Beats icon, I get the message as 'IDT PC Audio Stopped Working'.
I had the same problem with my ATI Catalyst control panel, but when i updated with new version from AMD website, it worked fine.
I came to know that this is happening because of the Windows 7 latest updates, and the HP provided Audio driver is not compatible.
I have Windows 7 64 bit with Service Pack 1.
How can i get the latest updated audio drivers, or how can i resolve this?

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

Chipset Driver - Windows 7.

When this has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Hi,

No problem, try the following and let me know.

First, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry IDT Audio and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

Again, windows will load an audio driver automatically - just let this complete.

Click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.

Restart the notebook again.

When windows has reloaded, use Recovery Manager to reinstall the original IDT HD Audio Driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7.

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook one last time - let Windows fully load for a couple of minutes before trying the Beats icon in the Taskbar.

Hi,

Ok, if Recovery Manager isn't working, try the following.

First, if you haven't already done so, go through the procedure below.

****************************************************************************************
Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry IDT Audio and select Uninstall.

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

Windows will load an audio driver automatically - just let this complete.

******************************************************************************************

Download the IDT Audio installer again on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe

Next, if you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note, if you have a 64bit installation, download and install the .msi 64-bit x64 installer on the link below.

http://www.7-zip.org/

When done, open your Downloads folder, right click the sp55094 installer, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok.

Open the newly extracted folder, right click on setup ( this is 5th from the bottom with a size of 368Kb ) and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.

When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Regards,
