I have yet to find any fix to this issue that works. The laptop says no audio device installed. When I go to device manager it shows that the Intel HD Dsp does not have a driver installed. I have gone through HP's support driver download page and had them detect the drivers that I needed and such. The Realtek HD Audio driver never seems show up in device manager after I install it. I have not been able to find any driver which works, I've browsed all of my local drivers and none work very well. This case seems to be similar but I could not get it to work for me either. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Audio-Driver-issues-after-Windows-10-Anniversary-Update...

Does anybody have any ideas I could try?

Intel  has a support assistant for drivers

Please provide the Product ID or exact model name for better assistance. Preferably the full product ID including the characters after the # symbol.

Totally missed that information in my write up. It is an HP Laptop Model 15-dy2091. SN# 5CD1359M5Q PN 491D1UA#ABA

I ran the intel support assistant. Graphics were updated, however the intel hd dsp is still driver less. I am unsure of where I can go to get that one. I've updated the firmware too. I am thinking about taking the back lid off of the laptop and seeing if the built in audio is even connected.

some other thoughts

Your system, 491D1UA#ABA, still has cloud support

BeemerBiker_0-1734543587178.png

HP is slowly removing cloud support for older systems so  you may want to use a 32gb  flash to get a factory restore while you still can.

Your realtek sound driver somehow uses intel chips and if that intel smart sound driver does not help then

6.0.9611.1 Rev.E dated May 9, 2024 is factory release here

I downloaded the cab file, extracted it's contents with 7zip and then attempted to update the intel hd dsp device driver with it, but it failed. Do you see any error in the steps I took? I will try downloading a different package from the microsoft catalogue and see if that works as well.

Let me know what you find out as there is another user with the same problem.

I have the same problem as well. Tried all the above possible solutions with exactly the same results. HP support comes up with nothing except the obvious - no audio device !

My HP Omen laptop 17.3"  PC 17-CK1XXX series (18 months old)

P/N 71K90PA#ABG

S/N 5CD2477GHQ

I don't understand why HP doesn't provide an Intel HD DSP driver to download on their support site

Any help would be appreciated

See if this works

solution: device manager > system devices > Right-click the Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller and select Update driver > Select Browse my computer for driver software > Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer > Select High Definition Audio Controller.

the above was discussed here
