Yes, it's a huge PITA. You must disable Windows from automatically installing drivers via Windows Update. Use this article here > https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/disable-automatic-driver-downloads-on-windows-10.

 

Then, download the latest Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver (Windows 10 v1809) from HP.

 

Once you reboot you should have stable audio.
