The next call goes to the CEO's office.

I have the SAME issue as everyone else on this thread. 6 months old laptop. Suddenly 3 weeks ago no one could hear me via Skype. The sound is garbled, scratchy and there is a hiss in the background. Until then it was all perfect.

WHAT IS THE FIX?

The only thing that fixed my problem was sending the computer back to HP, waiting for repairs for about 2 months, just for them to tell me that the problem is "unsolvable". Although they did offer to replace my computer, the models they offered were not a spec-by-spec replacement (despite them selling it to me as such). I, ultimately, ended up paying $170 over the original price of my computer to get something equal to what I had. It was an awful experience. The computer has been working just fine, but if my computer were to fail on me now, I'll just switch to a more reputable, reliable brand. This is almost certainly my last HP. Same goes for the rest of my family.

You could start the process and go through support or warranty and see if your luck is better than mine. But honestly, I think you're better off just biting the bullet and getting a new one from another brand.

I hope that you are not in the US. No one in the US would put up with this crap.

My laptop is still under warranty. I will not part with it for 8 weeks, or 8 days or 8 hours, nor will I pay $1.00 to fix it.

IF this thread is monitored I expect someone from HP to respond with the solution. The next contact will be to Dion Joseph Weisler. He will NOT be happy if he hears from me. https://ssl.www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/connect-with-hp.html

I believe the issue is hardware related. It just STOPPED working properly. My voice is garbled, scratchy and with background noise. I reinstalled all of the drivers.

@ZenProfit

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
