Solved!

Lag in audio by 2 seconds when playing a video after pausing it for a while

Pavilion 14-ce1001tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have purchased HP Pavilion 14-ce1001tx very recently. This problem has been from the start. When I am watching a video (on device player like VLC or Potplayer) and I pause it, to do something else on my device (other than playing some other video or audio) and then play the video back after a while (more than 30 seconds approximately), there is 2 seconds lag in the audio. Its quite frustrating given I have just purchased this device and you expect it to run perfectly atleast for an year. I have seen another question on this forum explaining similar problem but the solution given by HP didn't solve my problem.

Solved!

Lag in audio by 2 seconds when playing a video after pausing it for a while

@DexterSin

Welcome to the HP Community

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue.

Follow the below methods.

Method 1.

For the issue with sound. I would suggest you run sound audio troubleshooter, it will automatically detect the problem and fix it. Follow the below method.

  1. Press Windows key + R and click on Control Panel.

  2. Click on View by: category and click on Small icon.

  3. Now click on troubleshooting and click on Hardware and Sound.

  4. Click on Playing Audio and Click on Next button.

If the issue still persists, try the below method:

Method 2.

Step 1.

I suggest you to uninstall the sound driver and check.

  1. Press Windows key + X and select Device manager.

  2. Now click on Audio input and outputs to expand, right click on the device and click on uninstall.

  3. Once you are done uninstalling the restart the computer. If should automatically installed the driver.

If the still persist, try the below steps.

Step 2.

I suggest you update the audio driver and check.

  1. Press Windows key + X and select Device manager.

  2. Now click on Audio input and outputs and right click on it and update the software.

For the issue with display try the below method.

Method 4.

I recommend you to uninstall/reinstall the display adapter driver and check. Follow the below steps:

  1. Press Windows key + X and click on Device manager.

  2. Locate for display adapter and click on it to expand.

  3. Right click on the device and click on uninstall.

  4. Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic display adapter driver.

If this doesn’t help to fix the issue. I suggest you update the display adapter driver. Skip step3 from the above steps and right click on the device and click on update.

Method 5.

If the above method did not help to fix the issue, I would suggest you to go to the computer manufacturer website and download the latest display adapter driver. If the display driver is not available for Windows 10, try installing the available driver in compatibility mode and check.

  1. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

  2. Select Compatibility tab.

  3. Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

  4. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

Solved!

Lag in audio by 2 seconds when playing a video after pausing it for a while

@DexterSin I suggest you try the below steps to resolve the issue:

Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\xxxx\PowerSettings

  • where 'xxxx' is one of keys which contains
  • DriverDesc value 'Realtek High Definition Audio'.
  • Note: There may be multiple ones containing PowerSettings,
  • for example 'Nvidia High Definition Audio'.
  • You'll find there three binary values and set them:
  • ConservationIdleTime = ff ff ff ff;
  • IdlePowerState = 00 00 00 00;
  • PerformanceIdleTime = ff ff ff ff.
  • Default values are all 00 00 00 00 which disables power settings,
  • but driver overrides it with 0a 00 00 00
  • which is 10 seconds (0x0a = 10) and is by default in the driver.

If the issue persists, please follow the suggestions of the HP Guided Troubleshooter:
