@arjitm3110 Using VLC does not impact the laptop's warranty in anyway, that said, here's all you need to do about the noise from the speakers:

such issues or more or less related to the fan, to confirm, simply connect a headphone to the device and check if the sound continues to occur from the computer, or if it switches to the headphone instead.

If the issue persists from the device and not the headphone, try the below steps:

  • Updating your Notebook computer BIOS
  • Keeping notebook air vents clear and clean
  • Increasing the efficiency of the notebook to reduce heat
  • Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes
  • Selecting power save settings to shut off your computer when it is not in use

Thank you for the response.

But unfortunately, the HP service center has a different say. They have informed me that if the customer is using VLC or any third party software which boosts audio over 100%, then any damage to the speaker will not be covered under warranty.

Can you please confirm if this is correct or the service center is miss guiding the customers.

@arjitm3110 VLC can be used as it supports video and audio codecs none other player does (in my personal opinion), however, it can be used without boosting the audio beyond 100% as well, if that's what you are doing, you may use it, although if you are enhancing the audio and that creates issues with the speaker in the long run, that is not recommended.

I hope you understand!

Thank you, I have never boosted the audio on the laptop over 100% (most of the time I use headsets)

Can you please comment on the statement from the HP Service center which says -

"As per HP's Policy, Any damage to the speakers will not be covered under warranty if the customer is using VLC media player!!"

HP Recommended

@arjitm3110 As I mentioned if you aren't boosting the audio, and it isn't harming the speakers in anyway, there shouldn't be any issues with HP policy as such,

I hope that helps!

Thank you for your response.
The situation is, I am facing a slight scratching noise while playing audio, Service centre has tried a lot of things, even replaced the speakers, and even right after replacing the speakers the issue was persistent.
Now they’re saying that this will no longer be covered in warranty as I was using VLC.
Its really hard for me to understand and so silly on their part to ignore the fact, that right after replacing the speakers, the issue wasn’t resolved. How can they blame it on the customer for using VLC.

Therefore, I needed to know if the service centre can refuse to resolve the issue just because the customer uses VLC, by saying that this is as per HP’s policy.

The services at my location is handled by a third party - Aforeserve.

Please let me know if this is actually mentioned in HP’s policy, because I cannot find any related content in the Warranty manuals I have read so far.
