HP Envy Laptop 17-ae1xx ( HP Envy - 17t-ae 100 CTO )
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop recently began chiming when the screen goes to sleep and the receiver is on. The receiver is connected via HDMI.

I don't know why. Please help me figure this out. I want to solve the problem not just disable the audio.

Please help.

That usually happens with the such ports if the connection is not firm, it makes that noise.

Does the same happen when you connect different devices to the same port(if available)?

Let's do hard reset:

Hard Reset:

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.

3) Remove the Battery. ( not for Built-in Battery computer )

4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.

5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer if it's a (removable battery)

6) Try to turn on the computer.

Let me know if this helps.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Do you get the sound only when connecting the monitor or even without connecting the monitor? Is it connected via a docking station or directly?

Let us know 🙂

Thanks!

The laptop is on. I keep it on constantly. The screen goes into sleep mode. The receiver is connected via the HDMI port of the laptop. I have 3 external displays (HP), that are connected via USB-C dock (2) and a USB-A dock via USB to HDMI adapter.

When the screen goes to sleep and the receiver is on the connect/disconnect chime sounds constantly. If I disconnect the receiver, the sound stops. It did not do this a week or so prior to now.
