Writing this question here because the original "Laptop making noise when power cord plugged in" has been closed. With 27000 views and no solution, seems a bit nonchalant to close right?
My laptop sometimes makes a 'beep-beep' or 'tick-tick' rhythmic noise. Sounds like static. It starts off slow then gets louder and faster. Lately it's been less rhythmic, less silence between the noise, and more continuous, like a bee buzzing. I've narrowed it down to using Sound and the Charger at the same time:
Example 1
- Play a movie with the sound up and power cord connected -> Static noise starts gradually then gets louder and faster.
- Play a movie with sound up and NO power cord -> no Static sound.
Example 2
- Browse to a site with embedded video ad. Ad plays on mute automatically (i.e. NO sound is coming out of the speakers), power cord connected -> Static noise starts gradually then gets louder and faster.
- Browse to a site with embedded video ad and NO power cord -> no Static sound.
Example 3
- Open instant messaging tool of your choice (e.g. MS Teams), new message received with sound notification on, power cord connected -> Static sound starts loud and fast, and gradually gets softer and further apart until it stops.
- Open instant messaging tool of your choice, new message received with sound notification on, power cord NOT connected -> No Static sound
Example 4
- Open Android emulator, power cord connected -> No Static sound
- Open camera app on emulator (no sound coming from speakers), power cord connected -> Static noise starts after few minutes.
Tried disabling the Bang & Olufsen features, cleaning out junk from drives, deep cleaning registry, resetting and eventually new Windows installation with latest drivers. Nothing's helped. Definitely a manufacturer's fault on the hardware.
