Envy m7-u109dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last night I saw there was a new Conexant audio driver for my HP Envy (dated Oct. 6, 2017). I downloaded it, then:

1. Right clicked Conexant audio in Device manager, deleted it, then rebooted.

2. Installed the new driver.

3. Rebooted.

Now, whenever I change the volume or start playing ANY video or sound file, I get a POP noise from the speakers when the file starts playing. This includes Youtube video online, or when playing video/sound files already on my computer.

It only happens when the file first starts playing, but IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE. I also get the POP sound when any system sounds start playing (like the notification popup when I receive an email, etc.).

Please help. I'm desperate... this will drive me nuts.

Well I have this working--temporarily, or until driver conflcts are FIXED. After spending all afternoon uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, here's what I did:

In Device Manager under System Devices are TWO Intel Smart Sound Technology entries--one is Audio Controller and the other is OED. I right clicked on the first one (Intel Smart Sound Audio Controller) and chose "uninstall" and also clicked on the box to delete all drivers. When that was finished, I rebooted--had to wait a few minutes until Windows 10 updated the drivers.

Once it was finished and the red X disappeared from the volume icon, the popping sound is GONE. I looked again in device manager--Windows 10 installed a driver for the Intel Smart Sound Audio Manger, but NOT for the Intel Smart Sound OED (it has a red X). All sound is working great now.

I think there is a conflict between Conexant/Bang & Olufsen, and the Intel Smart Sound OED. I certainly hope HP and Conexant/Intel get this fixed, but for now the popping sound is gone.
