Envy Laptop Model 13T-y000x360 Product: W8Q19aar
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I spilled a very small amount of a soft drink on just one side of the computer.  it was closed and I wiped it immediately.  It was only a small amount on just on the right side of the computer.  Again, it was closed and nothing got into the keys and as far as I can tell not anywhere inside the compuer.

I assume this is why I I have lost the audio to my speakers.  The audio still works fine out of the headphones, and also through the HDMI.  But, nothing through the speakers.  The drivers are the latest.

The audio speakers are Bang & Olufsen.  I really can't tell where the speakers are on the computer.  I don't see any place where the sound comes out to check and see if anything may have gotten into the speakers.

Can anyone tell me how to proceed with getting this checked out, and if need be repaired.

Thank You

Thank you so much for the suggestion.  I did install it, but still the same problem.

I fear that maybe somehow the fluid from the soft drink may have either shorted out the speakers caused some kid of problem.  I don't see anywhere where the sound comes out of the computer, no sound grate or anything, and it was a very small amount of fluid and just on top of the close computer.  I suppose some may have gotten on the bottom.  I am not sure.  do you know where the speakers are in the Envy laptop?

The audio driver seems to be working correctly.  I do get sound out of the Head phones, and out of the HDMI.

Thanks again,

thanks again for your help!

I did the first part of the solution, found the SST Audio Controler, changed it to the HD Audio Controler, rebooted and that didn't work.

Then I saw the UPATE, and tried it.  But, I know longer had the “Intel SST Audio Controller”  that the instruction were telling me to look for.  So I went ahead and unistalled the HD Audio Controler thinking that may work.  That didn't work either.

I now have the Conexant Smart Audio HD, and not the “Intel SST Audio Controller”

I am not sure what to do from here.  The good thing is that it does still work with the headphones and with the HDMI.  I use this machine as part of our show, and I am screwed if I can't get the audio out of the head phones and/or the HDMI.

However, I also need audio to come out of the speakers for office work that I do.  Apparently, the problem is due to some stupid Windows update, and it was just a coincidence that I spilled a little soda on the outside of the case?

Thanks again for your help, can you direct me any further on how to get the Intel SST Audio Controller back, and then maybe I can try the Update again.  Or any other suggestios that you have would be great.

Thank you.

Thanks again, I got it working.  I kept messing with the instrutions you gave me.  I followed the directions you gave, and did it at least twice.  i may have been doing something wrong, finally I downloaded the updated audio driver from the HP Support Assistant and it to my surprise it started working.  I was up until 2am, but finally got it done.  The driver was version 9.0.160.0.

Your instruction were a life saver.

Well I guess I thought it was solved, but now the microphone is not working with Cortana anymore.  I also notice now that I no longer have the Bang & Olufsen app anymore.  When I do a test of the mic, I do se activitly on the meter.

The good part is that the speakers are working as I mentioned last night, but apparently It messed up something with the microphone.
