My microphone intermittently stops working on my laptop.  My wife has the exact same model and it is doing the same thing.  I have troubleshooted this issue with tech support.  We have reinstalled drivers.  We have reinstalled Windows. Now we were asked to send this computer(s) in for service.  This is why we bought $1500 computers was so that we didn't have these problems!  I can't ship away this computer that I use for work for two months to get serviced.  That is ridiculous especially since it is less than one year old.  Send me a replacement.  The name of this computer is hilarious, because I don't think anyone is "envying" it at the moment.
