Hi @AnkitGuptawhirl

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s got to be frustrating—especially when it’s been an issue since day one. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help get your microphone working properly on Windows 11.

🛠️ Fixes for HP Laptop Microphone Not Working

1. Run the Recording Audio Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Find Recording Audio and click Run.
  • Follow the prompts to detect and fix microphone issues.

2. Check Microphone Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
  • Make sure Microphone access is turned On.
  • Also enable access for apps that need it (like Zoom, Teams, etc.).

3. Set the Microphone as Default

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar → Sound settings.
  • Scroll down and click More sound settings.
  • Under the Recording tab, right-click your microphone → Set as Default Device.
  • Click Properties → adjust Levels tab to increase volume.

4. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
  • Right-click your microphone → Update driverSearch automatically.
  • If that doesn’t help, right-click again → Uninstall device, then restart your laptop.

5. Try a Test Recording

  • Open Voice Recorder (built-in app).
  • Record a short clip and play it back to check if the mic is picking up sound.

Let me know how far you get with these steps—I’ll stick with you until your mic is up and running! 🎙💪
