Hi there,

I've had my Envy 14" for about a week and have already encountered my first problem 😞 I had downloaded Skype and Whatsapp on the laptop and everything was working fine until the laptop had a BIOS update. After the update Whatsapp, Skype and even Voice Recorder would not pick up any sound. I have gone through the forum and changed the privacy settings to allow all apps to access the mic, I have uninstalled the driver, restarted my laptop, contacted HP support (didn't really help...said to continue the next day but they left me hanging), and the problem is still persisting.

I'm still not too sure what more else I can do or how I may reach out for a solution?

Update: Managed to solve the issue

I managed to reach the HP support staff and we were able to come to a solution.

I went to Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Sound->Recording->click on the Advanced tab -> untick the "Enable Audio Enhancements" box.

This seemed to have solve my problem, and therefore I am closing this issue now

I have a variation on this problem. The mic works in Skype, Google Meet or when tested in Windows or HP Support Assistant but does not work in Zoom. Tried all the suggestions I could find but still not working.

Why this should be specific to Zoom I don't know. Uninstalled and re-downloaded Zoom but that made no difference.

Given that Zoom is my main online meeting route, this is a major problem.

The mic shows in Device Manager under Audio inputs and Outputs with a Microsoft driver no. 10.0.9041.1 with a date of 06/12/2019.

It is listed again under Sound, Video and Game controllers with an Intel driver no. 10.29.0.5938 dated 17/06/21.

I've tried uninstalling and Scanning for hardware changes but the same two drivers return and both show no updates when checked.

Why would only Zoom have this problem? What can be done?
